there are various and sundry reasons to hate this song, obviously. chief among them is that it is complete thievery but rather than having any morals and gratefully acknowledging the influence, this moron claimed he had never really heard the postal service. because it is somehow better to have a crappy original idea six years behind the curve. second is that it causes you to defend the postal service four years after you started pretending that you never even liked them that much.
“I had some friends in high school that would have it playing in their cars and stuff. It was cool, but it never really caught my ear,” he tells Entertainment Weekly. “It’s funny, because the more I hear people relating the two, the more I realize that they are pretty similar — even though that wasn’t my initial goal or anything.”
